McCain’s Sustainability Efforts Recognised in the Food and Agriculture Benchmark of the World Benchmarking Alliance

McCain’s efforts to create planet-friendly food and a positive impact on food systems transformation have been recognized in the Food and Agriculture Benchmark 2021 of the World Benchmarking Alliance. The benchmark measures and ranks 350 of the world’s most influential food and agriculture companies on their contributions to transforming our global food system.

Overall, McCain ranked 55th, performing best in the environment measurement area thanks to its targets across multiple key topics, including scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, soil health, and water use. In governance and strategy, the world's largest manufacturer of frozen potato products discloses evidence of a global sustainability strategy and its governance and accountability system. In nutrition, McCain reports on its efforts to reduce salt and fat in its global product portfolio.

The ranking of the Food and Agriculture Benchmark encompasses companies active in 6 segments:

  • Agricultural input.

  • Agricultural products and commodities.

  • Animal protein.

  • Food and Beverage manufacturers and processors.

  • Retailers.

  • Food service.

These companies were assessed using the 2021 Methodology for the Food and Agriculture Benchmark, which includes 45 indicators distributed across four measurement areas:

  • Governance and Strategy

  • Environment

  • Nutrition

  • Social Inclusion
