Strengthening Automotive Sustainability: SAQ Evolution and Key Industry Insights
Discover Drive Sustainability's recent initiatives to promote responsible supply chain practices in the automotive industry. This includes the second part of its Intelligence Report and the introduction of Modularity, which makes the Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) more inclusive to non-production suppliers.
As sustainability expectations grow within the automotive industry, ensuring responsible supply chain practices has become more critical than ever. Drive Sustainability continues to lead these efforts through its Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ).
Recent developments include the release of an Intelligence Report analyzing supplier performance and the introduction of Modularity to make the SAQ more inclusive to non-production suppliers. These initiatives aim to enhance due diligence, support compliance with evolving regulations, and drive meaningful sustainability improvements across the supply chain.
Drive Sustainability, in collaboration with SUPPLIERASSURANCE, has released the second part of its Intelligence Report, analyzing over 43,000 supplier responses to SAQ from 2021 to 2023. This report evaluates supplier performance across Environment, Responsible Supply Chain Management, and Responsible Sourcing of Raw Materials, offering insights by location, sector, and company size. A webinar followed the release, connecting OEMs and suppliers to discuss key findings and strategies for building sustainable supply chains.
In February 2025 a significant update to the SAQ was released, Drive Sustainability has introduced Modularity to the SAQ, revising the questionnaire to be more fit for non-production suppliers. This enhancement tailors assessment criteria to supplier size, sector, and capabilities, ensuring fairer and more relevant evaluations. With increasing regulatory pressure, Modularity empowers suppliers to adopt meaningful sustainability measures while reinforcing the SAQ as a global standard.
With data-driven insights and adaptive tools like the SAQ, the industry is taking meaningful steps toward greater transparency, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
