Strengthening Civil Society-Private Sector Partnerships

CSR Europe in cooperation with CSR Turkey worked with leading actors in our networks to showcase the best practices and processes of corporate social responsibility partnerships that are giving back to the economy, society and environment in Europe and Turkey.

The report “Strengthening Civil Society-Private Sector Partnerships” in collaboration between CSR Turkey and CSR Europe provides insights into the situation and development of Corporate Social Responsibility in the EU and Turkey. Here below the key takeaways:

  • CSR remains a set of diverse activities for companies responding to their situations and material topics.

RESOURCES

  • However European Stakeholders are aligned on what CSR is today:

  1. Ethical business beyond profit

  2. Meeting the needs of stakeholders in society

  3. Avoiding environmental damage.

Four are the key areas that companies have to tackle in order to better integrate sustainability and enable a stronger environment for cross-sector partnerships:

  • Make a strong business case internally for CSR

  • Prioritize your resources through a materiality assessment

  • Actively engage your internal and external stakeholders

  • Be more collaborative

‘There is still a need for full integration across all sectors of business. Progress on integrating sustainability in businesses will be hindered unless there is greater collaboration and partnership at all levels’

Overall, stakeholder feedback is a valuable source of information that can improve project design and outcomes, helping companies to identify and control external risks. It can also form the basis for future collaboration and partnerships which are increasingly needed to address the urgent environmental and social challenges we face.
