TotalEnergies Premium Sponsor of the European SDG Summit 2021

TotalEnergies – the French multinational company that produces and markets energies on a global scale– will be premium sponsor of the European SDG Summit 2021, taking place on 11- 14 October.

There is a tremendous task ahead of us: “to build back better” to emerge from the pandemic crisis with new business and social models. Europe is leading the way with the Green Deal and all actors should come together to accelerate a global economic and energy transition that is socially inclusive. The energy transition means tackling a dual challenge: satisfying growing demand with more energy while safeguarding the environment with less emissions. The European SDG Summit is a unique opportunity to discuss collectively how to transform the energy system while ensuring that no one is left behind and allow for the emergence of pathways to a decarbonized economy by 2050.“

Manoelle Lepoutre, Senior Vice President Civil society engagement, TotalEnergies

For this fourth edition, CSR Europe will bring together business leaders, European policymakers, and civil society organisations in 30 virtual sessions aimed at shaping a climate-neutral, socially just, competitive Europe. Global Thought Leaders like TotalEnergies will participate in the opening plenary “Climate Action and a Just Transition: Transforming our Ecosystems” to share insights on their journey to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, together with society, for all its activities worldwide, from production to the energy products used by its customers.

ABOUT TOTALENERGIES

TotalEnergies pledged in 2016 its support to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and has designed its sustainability framework so as to make a genuinely significant contribution to that joint effort.

The Group has therefore built its sustainability approach on four areas of action:

  • The integration of climate into its strategy, because energy production and consumption are intrinsically linked to the challenge of climate change. As an actor of the energy transition, TotalEnergies is transforming itself into a multi-energy company, aiding society’s efforts to build a carbon-neutral future by acting on its emissions, on its products and on demand and all while promoting the development of carbon sinks.

  • Preservation of the environment, because the Group’s management of its operations depends on its ability to access selected natural resources, but also because TotalEnergies’ activities can both have an impact on the environment and ecosystems and help preserve the most sensitive areas. This is the reason why TotalEnergies has adopted in 2020 a new biodiversity ambition so as to contribute to the protection of the nature on which humanity depends.

  • Respect and mobilization of employees and suppliers, because with over 100,000 employees and a network of more than 100,000 suppliers, TotalEnergies can play an influential role across its value chain with the aim to promote respect for dignity and human rights for all.

  • Contribution to economic development in its host regions, because the Group’s businesses generate wealth. It must be shared over time with the Group’s stakeholders and help fight inequality.
