Toyota Motor Europe Joins Together 4 STEM

  • The European mobility company will contribute to the collaborative platform aimed at fostering talents in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics together with members Amgen, Huawei, and Johnson & Johnson.

Toyota Motor Europe, the European affiliate of Toyota Motor Corporation, is the latest company to join the collaborative platform Together 4 STEM, led by CSR Europe. Toyota will contribute to fostering education, talents, and jobs in the domains of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) together with platform members Amgen, Huawei, and Johnson & Johnson. This partnership will also strengthen the new green direction set by the platform for 2022

The company sees climate education in STEM studies as an opportunity to jointly familiarize students with future STEM profiles required to meet the emergence of new technologies aimed at tackling climate change. In this way, future professionals will be better prepared to create solutions to the most complex climate-related.

CSR Europe Executive Director, Stefan Crets, welcomed Toyota’s decision and stated:

“I welcome Toyota Motor Europe’s decision to join the collaborative platform Together 4 STEM, supporting and leveraging Toyota’s approach in fostering talents in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In 2022, STEM skills remain critical and on top of CSR Europe’s agenda as we continue to empower the next generation in a world where constant scientific and technological innovations occur.

With Toyota, we can enrich the offer of our digital learning platform STEM@Home and leverage their innovative technological solutions and environmental education experience into our new climate-oriented approach to STEM.

I hope that many more companies will follow their lead and engage with Together 4 STEM partners to create a Climate Education Toolkit and achieve impact at local level.”

Toyota has long been committed to STEM, notably by providing job visibility and attracting diverse talents to remove the biases and stereotypes that prevent students from choosing a STEM-related career. Toyota's endeavours reflect societal diversity in all their teams at all levels and seek the need to close the gap.

Amongst the company’s accomplishments, it is worth mentioning the program Girls STEM the Future, which inspires schoolgirls to explore a career path in STEM-related fields and in the automotive industry by putting them in contact with female role models who share their work experience during sessions in the classroom, on-site visits at the Toyota's Research and Development centre, and innovation camps.

TME’s Head of Sustainability & ESG Management, Monica Perez Lobo said:

“The Together 4 STEM program really complements our existing Girls STEM the Future Program. With better, more engaging and up to date teaching materials, for both in class and online, it amplifies of our reach and STEM promotion.”
