Uniting for Resilience: CR Turkey's Fourth Green Talks & Drinks Event Addresses Post-Earthquake Scenarios

As the Corporate Responsibility Association of Turkey, CR Turkey’s mission is to encourage companies to take responsibility in environmental, social, and governance areas, supporting sustainable development goals. In line with this mission, the association took a step forward with the Fourth Green Talks & Drinks event, organizing a notable gathering with a wide attendance.

The theme of the event revolved around the critical exploration of post-disaster scenarios. Nuran Aksu, the esteemed Chairperson of TKSD's Board, set the tone with an impassioned opening address, where she provided a profound insight into the impactful outcomes of a recent workshop conducted in collaboration with Bahçesehir University, focusing on the experiences of women in disasters. Her speech not only shed light on the pressing need to address physical necessities and security in disaster relief efforts but also emphasized the often overlooked aspects of compassion, love, and shared values as essential ingredients for effective and lasting solutions. Aksu, concluded by emphasizing the strength that unity and solidarity bring to the table.

Following Nuran Aksu's speech, Esra Arslan, a Board Member of the Needs Map, delivered an in-depth presentation on Turkey's post-disaster situation. Emphasizing the need for a development-oriented and progressive governance approach during the post-disaster recovery process, she highlighted that mere assistance is not sustainable and should be differentiated charity from solidarity at this point.

Arslan, underscored the pivotal role that communication agencies and the corporate world play in steering transformative action by stating:

"The first thing that needs to happen is letting go of competition. Especially communication agencies and the corporate world should take this step. We call this 'co-opetition,' which means moving together in a competitive environment. Some situations require collaborating in a competitive setting. You can make a difference in the field not through competition but through cooperation."

This event has brought CR Turkey one step closer to fulfilling its mission of promoting positive social and environmental change through the strategic use of technology, looking forward to continuing its efforts in driving a better future for all.
