The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) became a reality for Multinational Corporations on 24th May 2024, when the Council of the European Union approved the political agreement, completing the adoption process. As the directive entered into force in July 2024, Member States will have two years to transpose it into national law, and the rules will start to apply, with a gradual phase-in, between 2027 and 2029 depending on headcount and turnover.
The directive establishes a comprehensive framework of obligations aimed at promoting sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour. It acknowledges the evolving global and European landscape, compelling businesses to actively mitigate adverse human rights and environmental risks not only within
CSR Europe's “Due Diligence in Action” Atelier Series endeavors to unfold the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), exploring individual actions companies can take as well as the role of multi-stakeholder and collaborative initiatives in defining and implementing the legislation.
The third session of this Atelier series will delve into concrete practices for risk mitigation and impact remediation. Those aspects include relevant challenges for companies, ranging from establishing transversal governance architecture to ensuring transparency and traceability in the supply chain.
CSR Europe will convene businesses, expert organizations, and policymakers to provide key insights and discuss the measures and solutions for companies to draw and execute mitigation and remediation action plans, and to shape the grievance mechanism for effective restorations of complaints rights. The discussion will include the relevant governance aspects to deliver a sound Sustainability Due Diligence process, as well as transparency and traceability issues in the supply chain.
