OPEN EVENT
Long-term business success relies on incorporating biodiversity into decision-making structures, including identifying, assessing, mitigating, and disclosing biodiversity pressures in business operations.
While an increasing number of companies adopt biodiversity strategies, many are still navigating the integration of these actions into their overall sustainability plans, emphasizing the need for strengthened cooperation among European corporations to collectively address these challenges. In particular, when it comes to measuring and reporting on biodiversity impacts, including how they are managed within the company and its supply chain, companies are still struggling to navigate new requirements linked to the EU framework or reporting, as well as expectations linked to global frameworks like the TNFD.
To help companies overcome these challenges, CSR Europe, together with Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) and World Environment Center (WEC), has launched in 2024 a new initiative: “The Biodiversity Alliance”. This multi-stakeholder initiative gathers industry leaders sharing best practices and approaches on biodiversity management.
As part of the work for 2024, the group has decided to release a White Paper to outline current practices on biodiversity measurement and reporting, list practical examples along with actionable recommendations for improvement. The focus topic will be on enhancing biodiversity commitments through the lens of European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
After a first day (8th October) only reserved to the members of the Alliance, on Wednesday 9th October 2024 (9h30-13:00), external stakeholders will have the opportunity to meet with the members of the Biodiversity Alliance to gather and discuss in-person practices and experiences linked to how to manage, measure and report on biodiversity impacts.
This event happens as part of the process to finalize the White Paper for the members of the Alliance and exchange on it with relevant stakeholders, also as an inspiration for future work in 2025.
