EU POLICY UPDATE - Sustainable Supply Chains

CLOSED EVENT-MEMBERS ONLY

View Agenda

In general, supply chains pose specific challenges for individuals, groups, and businesses. These include the potential for environmental damage, violations of human rights, and difficulties with transparency and traceability. But most importantly they contribute or jeopardize the potential for people to improve their living and environmental conditions.

The pressure on regulations from national and European policy-makers is helping to level the playing field for businesses doing business in the European Union. A horizontal framework is being established by the Proposed Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) to encourage businesses operating in the EU single market to contribute to the protection of human rights and the environment both within their own operations and throughout their value chains. In addition to the CS3D, the European Commission put up several pieces of legislation to support its legislative initiatives for supply chain accountability and transparency. They include proposals for regulations on batteries, products created without contributing to deforestation, and products that cannot be sold on the Union market because of their use of forced labour.

This event will provide participants with insights into the Legislative Process leading to the finalisation of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, as well as into the other key legislative text that build the EU Agenda for Sustainable Supply Chains. The webinar will explore what the best way forward for companies is. The participants will also be able to share their feedback on how to go beyond compliance and act together to improve the livelihoods of the most fragile actors in the supply chains.
