4:10 - 5:15PM | 24 June 2025

Context

Human rights due diligence is becoming increasingly critical due to the adoption of European and extra-European regulations, with a strong focus on combating forced labour. These regulations mandate companies to conduct thorough risk assessments, implement mitigation and remediation measures, and establish continuous monitoring processes. Non-compliance can lead to severe penalties, including product bans linked to forced labour and human rights violations.

Despite these requirements, companies face significant challenges in effectively addressing human rights risks. Factors such as underdeveloped due diligence frameworks, the complexity of global supply chains, and varying legislative standards hinder companies' ability to ensure compliance and meaningful impact

This highlights the urgent need for robust due diligence processes that create tangible impacts on the ground. For meaningful improvements, companies must identify and address risks and implement corrective action plans, developed in collaboration with suppliers and relevant stakeholders.

ABOUT THE roundtable

This roundtable will provide practitioners with a collaborative space to discuss and enhance their human rights due diligence strategies. The session will be highly interactive, incorporating real-world examples to help participants translate theoretical knowledge into actionable strategies.

A case study will be presented, and attendees will work together to develop an effective remediation plan to mitigate human rights risks and restore the rights of affected individuals. The practical exercise will focus on prevention, grievance mechanisms, and remediation practices, addressing key questions related to cost distribution, accountability, and effective mitigation planning.

By sharing experiences, best practices, and insights on supplier engagement and due diligence implementation, participants will deepen their understanding of this crucial issue. The discussion will emphasize in particular the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility across the value chain.
