Business Uniting Talents 2030 for a Diverse Belgian Workforce
In this new project, CSR Europe is working with AGC Glass Europe, Axa Belgium, Engie Benelux, L’Oréal Belgilux, Solvay, The Port of Antwerp, Janssen Pharmaceutical, Telenet Group, and Atelier Jean Regniers to reduce inequalities in the employment opportunities of Belgians of foreign origin.
In the next months, partners of Business Uniting Talents 2030 (BUT2030) will work towards the adoption of a common ideal model to ensure ethnic diversity in their workforce and a more inclusive business model. After a high-level commitment on this project from the CEOs of all 9 companies, the direction was set at the first BUT2030 task force meeting in January, where key elements of the ideal model and best practices were exchanged. By involving all the relevant stakeholders we all want to achieve impact on the ground.
Belgium is a country of great diversity and this diversity is increasing. According to the latest statistics released by the Belgian Statistical Office, around 20% of the Belgian population is of foreign origin. However, this segment of society continues to face difficulties in accessing employment opportunities.
Business Uniting Talents 2030 is the project launched by CSR Europe with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation and Prince Philippe Fund, to foster the inclusion of Belgium’s talents with non-European background.
Disclaimer: while we chose to address the topic from the angle of ethnic/national origin, we recognise the importance of other types of diversity and inclusion (gender, sexual orientation, appearance, income etc.). The focus on ethnic/national origin is due to a persisting gap between employment rates of people with non-EU origins and their native counterparts in Belgium.
