In Croatia, the Diversity Charter, set up with the support of the European Commission, operates under the auspices of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development, with more than 60 signatories to date.

A year ago, at the initiative of IKEA, a group of Charter signatories decided to kick things up a notch and formed the Gender Equality Alliance. By signing the Statement of the Alliance, companies are committed to promote diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace.

On the occasion of International Women's Day this year, the Croatian Business Council organised the Alliance for Gender Equality Forum at the House of Europe, in Zagreb. Representatives of its member companies and Swedish Ambassador Diana Madunic and Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee of the Croatian Parliament Sabina Glasovac, spoke at the Forum, referring to the importance of achieving gender equality.

CSR Europe also strives for Gender Equality in the Collaborative Platform Together 4 STEM. There is an extreme lack of diversity in STEM jobs and within companies. The Platform aims at inspiring more young people to get interested in STEM education and at facilitating women’s access to STEM studies and careers.
