Discover the Initiatives of our NPO Network for the United Nations' World Youth Skills Day
On 15 July, the world celebrates Youth Skills Day, set by the United Nations to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
World Youth Skills Day 2022 takes place amid concerted efforts towards socio-economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that are interconnected with challenges such as climate change, conflict, persisting poverty, rising inequality, rapid technological change, demographic transition and others. Young women and girls, young persons with disabilities, youth from poorer households, rural communities, indigenous peoples, and minority groups, as well as those who suffer the consequences of violent conflict and political instability, continue to be excluded due to a combination of factors. In addition, the crisis has accelerated several transitions the world of work was already undergoing, which add layers of uncertainty regarding the skills and competencies that will be in demand after the pandemic is overcome.

Fondazione Sodalitas
The Italian CSR Network promotes multistakeholder initiatives aimed at reducing the distance between the education system and the world of work, and improving young people’s opportunities and conditions of employment.
The We4Youth project aims to reduce the skill mismatch between demand and supply of employment for young people through the implementation of business-education partnerships. Students benefit from training and project works designed in collaboration with companies to build their soft skills and discover what are the most requested job profiles.
Sodalitas STEM by Me - The pilot project with enterprises and junior high schools to guide young people to the choice of high school, based on the demands of the world of work and emphasizing the significance of STEM studies.
Forética
The leading organisation for sustainability in Spain is part of the project “JOBS 2030 - Future of Work”, led by ManpowerGroup in collaboration with Fundación ONCE and PRISA. The project aims to create a space for dialogue regarding the implications, challenges, and opportunities posed by the green transition and its impact on the future of work. Partners have recently released the report “Green Jobs and Fair Transition in the Future of Work” (in Spanish).

IRDO – Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility
The leading Slovenian organization that contributes to the development of social responsibility in Slovenia is celebrating its 18 years of existence on July 15th.
For the occasion, IRDO has upgraded its work with youth, to a green, inclusive and digital version of the Model M SLOVENIA project which has had great results in employing youth at the national level.
