Drive Sustainability Joins the Public Consultation of the Copper Mark’s Chain of Custody Standard
Stakeholders interested in sharing their view on the Copper Mark’s Chain of Custody Standard have time until 28 February 2022 to submit their feedback.
The leading automotive partnership Drive Sustainability will participate in the public consultation of the Copper Mark’s Chain of Custody Standard, which focuses specifically on Section 7.2.2. on “Eligibility of Secondary Copper”.
Drive Sustainability partners aim to drive sustainability throughout the automotive supply chain by promoting a common approach within the industry and by integrating sustainability in the overall procurement process. To this end, and in line with Drive Sustainability’s Raw Materials Strategy, last year the partnership released its Common Standards Recognition framework and launched the online platform Raw Material Outlook, dedicated to managing and mitigating the Human Rights violations and the ESG impacts of materials used in the automotive value chain.
The Chain of Custody Standard’s core objectives is to:
Increase transparency in copper supply chains.
Allow customers to be confident that their copper was produced responsibly.
To track a copper product throughout the supply chain.
Contribute to the uptake of responsible production practices and in particular use of the Copper Mark Responsible Production Criteria (Copper Mark Criteria) and Assessment Process.
Contribute to the increased use of recycled material and support efforts to move to a circular economy.
Allow product-level claims of Copper Mark copper.
The public consultation period is open until 28 February 2022.
