How to Shape Future-Proof HR Models for a Just Transition

  • At the members-only Atelier on 27th April, companies explored different paths for the development of people-centred HR strategies and discussed how to make them inclusive in the post COVID-19 context, as Europe accelerates the green and digital transition.

  • Corporate members are invited to register for the second session of the Atelier on 24th June.

On 27th April, CSR Europe kicked off the Atelier series “Developing a People-Centred Approach to the Workforce” in collaboration with PwC Belgium. At the event, Engie, Enel, LKQ Europe and Toyota explored the HR challenges posed by the green and digital transitions.

Loss of jobs, skill gaps, and difficulties in finding and hiring talents are only some of the possible outcomes of a transition that does not take into account the social dimension. PwC Belgium, Knowledge Partner for the Atelier, highlighted that the digital divide goes hand in hand with talent shortages as turnover is high and employees have a growing fear for their job security.

At the same time, participating companies reflected on the need to:

  • Find indicators to measure social and inclusive success;

  • Raise awareness about the implications of hybrid working culture and balance employees' sense of responsibility with their well-being;

  • Broaden the scope of the Human Resources function to include the company’s impact on local communities;

  • Increase the cooperation between the Sustainability and HR departments;

  • Create jobs that have a purpose in a sustainable society and actively involve employees, making them aware of ongoing trends in skills and career development opportunities.

NEXT STEPS

Corporate members that strive to work towards the adoption of responsible leadership culture and foster an inclusive workforce transformation are invited to register for the second session on  24th June.

At the event, CSR Europe will present the anonymised benchmark assessing participants’ HR readiness for digitalisation and automatization.
