Who are the EU Leaders attending the European SDG Summit 2022?
The SDG Summit 2022 brings together key representatives of the European institutions who are in charge of advancing sustainability policies and initiatives for an Inclusive Green Deal. Find out who they are.
Between 10-12 October, the European SDG Summit is convening European policymakers to accelerate the journey towards climate neutrality and the adoption of an inclusive approach to the green and digital transition.
Together with business leaders and civil society representatives, they will address the state of play on sustainability in the European Union and the next steps regarding Just Transition, the European Green Deal, circular economy, sustainable finance, and much more.

Nicolas Schmit,
European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights
EU Commissioner Schmit will address the need for profitability and social responsibility to go together if we are to learn from past mistakes & foster inclusion against inequality. His intervention takes place in the framework of the launch of the European Business Roadmap for Just Transition, developed by CSR Europe’s People Leader Hub.

Mariya Gabriel
European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth
EU Commissioner Gabriel will open the second high-level plenary in programme with an update on the European Innovation Council’s research opportunities to advance the circular economy of Europe’s production and consumption systems.
When? At the high-level plenary “The Challenge of Circularity in the Green Transition”on 11 October, 11:30-13:00 CEST.
Elisa Ferreira
European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms
EU Commissioner Ferreira will touch base on the development of Regional Just Transition Plans that can benefit businesses and their broader local ecosystems, as well as the Just Transition Mechanism to unlock synergies at the European and local levels.
When? At the high-level plenary “Financing an Inclusive Green Transition” on 12 October, 11:30-13:00 CEST.
Ruth Paserman
Director Funds, Programming and Implementation, Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion (DG-EMPL), European Commission
Director Paserman will share with the Summit participants the latest developments on the European Commission’s work on creating financial instruments to support enterprises in the Just Transition. In his intervention he will also address how companies and the investment community can leverage the EU Taxonomy to achieve a greener and more inclusive society.

Stefan Olsson
Deputy Director General, Directorate General Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion (DG-EMPL), European Commission
Deputy Director General Olsson will share the European Commission’s initiatives to foster upskilling and reskilling practices in the Union, with a focus on the European Year of Skills and the future of work.
When? At the European SDG Roundtable “Upskilling to Unlock the Twin Transition” on 10 October, 14:00-15:30 CEST.
Udo Bullmann
Member of the European Parliament, S&D DEVE Coordinator and former S&D President
In conversation with CSR Europe’s Founder and Senior Advisor, Jan Noterdaeme, MEP Bullmann will navigate the gaps, challenges, and opportunities that the EU faces in meeting the United Nations’ 17 SDGs by 2030. Strong of his experience as Development Policy spokesperson of the Socialist Group with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, he will shed light on how Europe can deliver on the UN 2030 Agenda without leaving the social dimension behind.
