Why Industry Federations Should Join the Pact for Sustainable Industry
Amongst the benefits of partaking in the Pact is the priority in the organisation of the SDG Industry Roundtables of the SDG Summit 2021.
In the face of the current climate crisis and weakened social cohesion, we need to step up our efforts now. Collaboration is vital to pursue the systemic changes needed in society and within businesses to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the ambitious objectives of the European Green Deal. There is a growing body of evidence that sector and multi-stakeholder partnerships have the potential to raise the integration of sustainability on the agenda, leading to new business opportunities and enhanced competitiveness.
For this reason, CSR Europe invites industry federations to join the European Pact for Sustainable Industry. The Pact aims at scaling up the impact of individual efforts made by companies, industry federations, and EU leaders towards a Sustainable Europe 2030.

The ambition is to have all the European Industry Federations rolling out a mature Sustainability Industry Strategy by 2024.
To keep track of the progress made in addressing climate change and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) issues, CSR Europe is teaming up with Moody’s Vigeo Eiris for the development of the first-ever European Sustainable Industry Barometer. The findings will contribute to identifying where additional efforts are needed, helping federations to explore collaborations around critical challenges faced by the European industry. The first edition of the Barometer will be presented at the European SDG Summit, in October 2021.
Industry Federations that join the Pact, will also have priority in the definition of the topics of the SDG Industry Roundtables hosted at the Summit. At the Industry SDG Roundtables, federations will be able to showcase their leadership in sustainability and engage with a cross-sectoral, cross-industrial, c-level audience across Europe & beyond to kickstart new collaborations around one pressing challenge: how can we build a prosperous and inclusive society while pursuing a green and digital transition?
