THE CHALLENGE

Inequality is not a fact of nature but rather a product of our systems and practices. Businesses recognize that tackling inequality globally is critical to their license to operate. However, inequality is still increasing due to the profound transformations our society and planet are going through.

Just Transition therefore, becomes crucial for social and environmental justice, but it is also necessary to keep the EU attractive for investments in the long term.

OUR APPROACH

To respond to the calls of Business Leaders and in the footsteps of WBCSD (BCTI) and Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG), in 2022 CSR Europe launched the People Leaders Hub, bringing together leading member companies in a hub-and-spoke model aimed at making the European Green Deal inclusive and foster a Just Transition. As outcomes, the European Business Roadmap for Just Transition and its related Toolbox were published.

The intelligence collected so far demonstrated the great need to foster business collaboration on this topic. Member companies - BNP Paribas, Boston Consulting Group, Engie, Fondazione Sodalitas, Hitachi, LKQ Europe, Société Générale, Solvay, The Adecco Group, Toyota - will continue the Hub’s work to promote an inclusive green transition.

Collaboration with the European Commission for the construction of a European Business Alliance on Just Transition.
Workshop series to implement the European Business Roadmap and Toolbox for Just Transition.
Production of policy recommendations that will feed CSR Europe’s “Policy Paper for A Social Green Deal 2024-2029” , which will be presented at the beginning of 2024.
