WE STRIVE FOR

THE CHALLENGE

The European economy is driven by knowledge, yet persisting lack of diversity and shortage of people working in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) pipeline causes strain on business performance.

The year 2020 brought unexpected challenges that increased the importance of STEM skills as scientists researched cures and vaccinations, engineers helped provide protective equipment, and ICT services made sure people stayed connected and worked remotely. When it comes to STEM education, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way educational institutions work all around the world

Moreover, the pandemic shed light on another emergency that countries can no longer ignore: climate change. Evidently, STEM plays a key role in preventing the global climate catastrophe and mitigating its effects. Only by furthering STEM knowledge and careers with a strong focus on environmental studies will the next generations be able to develop practices that will promote sustainable societies and economies.

OUR APPROACH

CSR Europe's Together 4 STEM Collaborative Platform aims to accelerate and scale up business initiatives to promote inclusive STEM education and professions through sustainable business collaboration and active bridge-building between industry and education.

Over the last three years, the platform has combined its expertise and leadership to gather resources and develop tools to support the STEM challenge (e.g. the multilingual learning platform STEM@Home and the Climate Education Toolkit).

In the next few years, we will continue to leverage this combined expertise, use the developed materials and tools to actively pursue effect through local actions. The platform's ultimate objective is to integrate collaborative content into existing educational programs and become the STEM industry's go-to group.

WHAT WE DELIVER

We strengthen business-education initiatives to inspire and empower young people in STEM:

  • We amplify the impact of STEM initiatives by developing a common methodology and sharing best practices.

  • We strengthen existing company STEM initiatives by exchanging knowledge and providing insights at EU level.

We ensure a smooth transition to work for current and future generations:

  • We connect with stakeholders to understand the needs of education and actively build bridges between industry and education.

  • We build Local STEM Networks and work together on the ground to develop a stronger STEM offer.

  • We gain knowledge on quality of our materials by measuring impact through activities.
