We are addressing the following SDGs:
SPEAKERS
Indirect emissions originated both upstream and downstream across a company’s value chain – the so called Scope 3 emissions - are on average 11 times higher than direct emissions. Nevertheless, only 35% of EU corporations are currently reporting on them.
How can Scope 3 emissions be reduced? Proactive supply chain management, creating partnerships between producers and end-customers and science-based targets are a few key strategies to manage and reduce these emissions.
This session will look at the main actions that companies can and are currently undertaking to reduce value chain emissions, focusing on challenges and opportunities. The topic will be discussed from 3 different angles:
1. Trends towards proactive supply chain management:
Increase in companies setting science-based targets (SBTis).
Increase in buyers requiring supply chain actors to be transparent on emissions.
Initiatives to unlock the power of the supply chain: the CDP supply chain program.
2. How to accelerate suppliers’ sustainability journey: practical action to address upstream emissions.
3. How to collaborate to reach net-zero emissions: practical actions from an energy player to reduce its customers/end-users emissions.
