EUROPEAN ROUNDTABLE: Sustainability Reporting in the EU - Navigating Regulations

The adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) represents a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in corporate sustainability practices. Companies will now be required to report holistically on the sustainability performance indicators, including their business model, policies, actions, metrics, and targets, as well as stakeholder engagement.

The implementation of the ESRS represents a significant opportunity for companies to enhance their sustainability performance and demonstrate their commitment to sustainable business practices. By taking proactive steps to prepare for the ESRS requirements, companies can position themselves as leaders in sustainability reporting and build trust with stakeholders.

The objective of this European Roundtable is to outline the steps that companies need to take to comply with the ESRS requirements and prepare for the first reporting cycle starting in 2025. Building on the ESRS companies need to restructure their data collection systems, conduct stakeholder engagement activities, and define key performance indicators.

Moreover, given the high granularity and specificity of information required, this session aims also to show how beneficial it could be for companies to collaborate more and break down barriers between different departments and units.
