Are you Ready for the Future of Work?

As Covid-19 accelerated the journey towards digitalisation , there is an urgent need for companies to adapt the skills of their workforces. To reduce the risk workers face of being laid off or displaced by automation, they need to be provided with suitable education.

How can companies implement appropriate internal processes to upskill and reskill their employees? Join us at the plenary “The Future of Work is Now” of the European SDG Summit 2020 to find out.

Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, will set the stage of this crucial people challenge, defining the direction taken by the European Commission to support governments and enterprises during current economic and social crisis. He will offer key insights into initiatives such as the Just Transition Mechanism, the Industrial Strategy,  the European Pillar of Social Rights, and New Skills Agenda for Europe.

Afterwards, in a session moderated by Christian Scharff, Partner at PwC Luxembourg, we will discover how trade unions are supporting workers in facing the Future of Work and Just Transition with the European Trade Union Confederation. Participants will also hear the successful approaches adopted by J. P. Morgan and Enel in the project Upskill 4 Future to ensure an inclusive workforce transition. In the project, HR transformation is used to support the employability of vulnerable workers, who are at risk of losing their jobs due to technological progress and companies’ restructurings. With IBM, and Huawei we will address instead the role of technology in supporting workforce reskilling.

How to prepare new generations to the future of work? In the plenary, we will bring to the table Julie Fulon, founder of Girleek.TECH and co-founder of MolenGeek, to showcase innovate approaches to education and pedagogy that contribute to closing the gender gap and leave no-one behind.
