Business Uniting Talents 2030 for Inclusive and Sustainable Business Models

Partners of the project Business Uniting Talents 2030 (BUT2030) have drafted a new, common version of the ideal business model that could ensure an inclusive and ethnically diverse workforce.

The model is based on 3 mutually reinforcing steps:

  1. Strategic Commitment:

    • Recognition by the CEO

    • Policy statements

    • Strategy with targets linked to the business strategy

  2. Management Process & Systematic Internal Communication:

    2.1 Go Outside

    • Education/entrepreneurship partnerships

    • External engagements by employees

    2.2 Bring the Outside In

    • Inclusive corporate branding

    • Provide specific entrance schemes

    2.3 Inclusion in Business Processes

    • Recruitment & contracting

    • Training/supplier development/support

    • Working environment

    • Corporate culture

  3. Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA)

    • Measurement of efforts and results

    • Communication & reporting

The new document builds upon the feedback received by the 9 companies involved: AGC, Axa Belgium, Atelier Jean Regniers, Engie Benelux, L’Oréal Belgilux, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Solvay, Telenet and The Port of Antwerp.

Business Uniting Talents 2030 is the project launched by CSR Europe with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation and Prince Philippe Fund, to foster the inclusion of Belgium’s talents with non-European background. Belgium is a country of great diversity and this diversity is increasing. According to the latest statistics released by the Belgian Statistical Office, around 20% of the Belgian population is of foreign origin. However, this segment of society continues to face difficulties in accessing employment opportunities.

BUT2030, currently in a preparatory phase, is focusing on best practice and experience sharing between companies to achieve impact on the ground. The project is in line with the European Commission’s “Action plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021-2027” to support integration in the areas of education, employment, health and housing.
