CSR Europe Launches New Leaders Group on Financing an Inclusive, Green Future
A selected group of leading companies, members of CSR Europe, will engage with the European Commission, National CSR Networks, and other key stakeholders to tackle the social dimension of financing the green and transition in Europe.
The outcomes will be presented at the European SDG Summit 2022.
50 trillion in incremental investments in the global economy are required to reach the target of net-zero emissions by 2050, as also set out in the European Green Deal. But how can impact investing favour not only the “Environment” but also the “Social” and “Governance” factors of an holistic and inclusive approach to growth?
Businesses play a key role in this transition, and to maximise their impact and contribution, CSR Europe is launching a Leaders Group on Financing a Green and Just Transition. This action-oriented leadership group is made up of selected corporate members that are leading on the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) concerns into their governance, priorities, strategies, and approach to investments.
Together, they will work to provide first-hand experience and bottom-up recommendations to policymakers and peer companies on how to ensure an equitable and inclusive transition, actively contributing to the direction set by the European Commission with the EU Sustainable Finance Strategy, the EU Taxonomy, and the Just Transition Mechanism. Participating member companies will also engage with CSR Networks to scale-up collaborations at the National level to reach actors, regions, and industrial sectors that will mostly be impacted by the green and digital transformation.
The outcomes of the work done by the Leaders Group between March and September 2022 will be presented at one of the three high-level sessions of the European SDG Summit, taking place on 10-12 October.
