  • What are the challenges companies are facing?

2024: Implementation of the CSRD & first reporting period of the LkSG

The year 2023 is characterized by the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine and the resurgence of the Middle East conflict due to the terrorist attack by Hamas and its consequences. The increasing societal tensions are complicating the environment in which companies operate and manage their sustainability activities. However, there have also been regulatory developments with significant consequences for corporate sustainability when the German Supply Chain Sustainability Act (LkSG) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) came into force at European level.

2024 will be characterized by the implementation of these two regulatory developments, including the resolutions relating to the European Supply Chain Act. Everyone is therefore eagerly awaiting the publication of the first LkSG reports and the associated audits by the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). The CSRD reporting obligations will also apply to the first companies from January 1, 2024. The number of companies required to report will continue to grow in the coming years. Topics such as the circular economy and biodiversity will become more important. Furthermore, ambitious and verifiable progress in climate protection will be essential.

In this context, econsense invites you to look ahead to the new year together with its experts and to assess upcoming political projects, developments and milestones. The focus is always on the practical implementation of sustainability issues in companies.
