respACT Stands with Austrian Companies in Sustainability Appeal

In May, our Austrian National Partner Organisation, respACT, in cooperation with the Global Compact Network Austria, launched a Sustainability Appeal to the Austrian Federal Government. The appeal calls for decisive action from the government for the sustainable development of the economy, in response to COVID-19.

Together with Austrian companies, they call for:

Economic stimulus packages that not only focus on short term goals, but also serve long-term goals and contribute to achieving the EU Green Deal, the United Nationals Sustainability Goals and the Paris Agreement;
Cooperation with businesses, the science community and civil society to create a forward-looking framework focused around sustainability.

Additionally, in response to coronavirus crisis, respACT has created a dedicated COVID-19 page, gathering all efforts, initiatives, and commitments from Austrian companies to tackle the impact of the pandemic.

But what comes next? As the COVID-19 lockdown measures continue to ease, there is an urgency for togetherness: for enterprises, industry federations, policymakers, and civil society organisations to collaborate and build back better.

How? By incubating collaborations to develop practical and scalable solutions under the umbrella of the European Pact for Sustainable Industry.
