Solvay's fifth Integrated Report reflects their progress on an integrated management journey that began in 2012 when the Group introduced an integrated thinking approach to strengthening the connection between its businesses, sustainability, and finance. Since then, their business and product portfolio decisions have been made with both economic value creation and sustainability in mind.

The report tells the story of Solvay during this year, providing details on how the company addressed the crisis together with employees, customers, shareholders, and partners.

10 highlights of 2020 include:

  • The commitment to reduce emissions: through Solvay One Planet sustainability roadmap, the company will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 26% by 2030 in line with the Paris Agreement.

  • The launch of the Solvay Green Hydrogen Platform that will gather all the innovative material and chemical solutions offered by the Group to advance the emerging hydrogen economy.

  • The creation of the Solvay Solidarity Fund providing financial and non-financial support to Solvay employees, dependents, and communities experiencing adversity due to the pandemic.

  • Introduced two innovations to fight viruses and bacteria: Actizone™ - a unique cleaning hygiene solution as it destroys over 99.9% of microorganisms including coronaviruses for up to 24 hours - and the new polyamide fiber, Amni® Virus-Bac OFF.

  • The partnership with Veolia and Renault to create a circular economy consortium that will enable the production of circular electric vehicle batteries.

  • Extended maternity, paternity, and co-parent leave.

  • Solvay Citizen Day to inspire interest in STEM.

  • One Pulse surveys to enhance employees` well-being.

  • The integration of mobile working into the Group's global standard.

  • The renewal of the contracts with Boeing and Lockheed Martin advancing innovation in design and manufacturing.
