Bridgestone's Sustainability Journey: From Milestone 2020 to 2030
In 2012, Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company, revealed its environmental vision for the future and set a series of targets to achieve by 2020 and beyond. These included operating in better balance with nature, reducing global water withdrawal and increasing global resource productivity.
The result? According to Bridgestone’s 2019-2020 Global Sustainability Report, the company reached the three targets a year ahead of schedule.
‘We’re proud to have announced this achievement – a lot of hard work and change has gone in over the last eight years to make it possible – but there’s no cause for celebration; plenty of work is still to be done before 2050’, says Bridgestone.
Over the next 10 years, the company plans to increase their ratio of recycled and renewable materials to 40%; reduce CO2 emissions by 30% and develop and implement a water stewardship plan at manufacturing facilities in water-stressed areas. READ MORE
