With an estimated population of 450 million people working in global supply chains, the numbers and the vulnerability of those facing reduced income or job loss are dramatically increasing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This unprecedented situation is only adding to the already growing expectations faced by policymakers around the world to create mandatory environmental and human rights due diligence laws.
To that end, the European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, announced the European Union’s plans to develop a legislative proposal for mandatory corporate environmental and human rights due diligence.
In this session we will explore the European Commission’s new commitment and how enhanced multi-stakeholder collaborations could help achieve the much needed change to improve supply chain due diligence. Why? Because the real challenge is empowering actors across the entire value chain to invest in impactful partnerships to implement future-proof sustainable practices.
