CSR Europe’s Leadership Hubs for Business Action Towards Just Transition
In 2023 CSR Europe is kicking off three Leadership Hubs in its priority areas of People, Materials, and Markets, to advance business’s role in the EU agenda on Just Transition.
The Hubs will involve front-running member companies and National Partner Organisations.
Preserving the planet demands significant transformations of our economy and people's behaviour. The green transition is already impacting vulnerable components of society, often emphasizing pre-existing inequalities. Just Transition, therefore, is needed to ensure social and environmental justice, but also to keep the EU attractive for investments in the long term.
CSR Europe recognize that tackling inequality globally is critical to businesses’ license to operate. For this reason, in 2023 we are launching three leadership hubs to address the challenge of Just Transition from three different perspectives:
People Leadership Hub, with a focus on the changes affecting the workplace.
Materials Leadership Hub, tackling social sustainability issues alongside companies’ supply chains.
Markets Leadership Hub, addressing companies’ challenges in managing risks and opportunities in the implementation of sustainable business models.
The hubs will see the participation of CSR Europe’s corporate members and National Partner Organisations, which will dialogue throughout the year with European policymakers regarding the direction to take to ensure Just Transition across these three areas. As a result of this dialogue, the focus groups of each hub will produce policy recommendations that will feed CSR Europe’s “Policy Paper for A Social Green Deal 2024-2029”, which will be presented at the beginning of 2024.
