The COVID-19 crisis has deeply disrupted the economies of the European single market, accelerating the transition towards a green, digital, and more resilient Europe. It is in this context, that the European Commission released its Action Plan for fair and simple taxation in support to the EU recovery strategy, setting out 25 initiatives to be implemented between now and 2024 to make taxation fairer, simpler and more adapted to modern technologies.
The Action Plan is part of the wider EU tax agenda, which will also include a deep reform of the corporate tax system, realigning taxing rights with value creation, and setting a minimum level of effective taxation of business profits.
